To say Bad Bunny had a wild night at the Grammys would be an understatement. Puerto Rican rapper and singer Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known to all as Bad Bunny around the world, won big at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, taking three coveted trophies home. The global superstar made headlines after clocking history by becoming the first Spanish-language artist to be nominated for Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
While his emotional acceptance speech after lifting the trophy in Best Música Urbana Album category became one of the most talked about moments of the big night, it was his reaction to winning the Grammy that turned into an iconic meme to emerge from the celebrated awards night.
Powerful Speech
Bad Bunny’s ‘Debí Tirar Más
Fotos’ scripted history after it became the first-ever Spanish-language Album of the Year. Once on stage, the star shed light on the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in a fiery yet compassionate speech that was a mix of both Spanish and English.
“Before I say thanks to God, I gotta say ICE out,” Bad Bunny said before adding, “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans. Also, I will say to people, I know it’s tough to know not to hate on these days and I was thinking sometimes, we get contaminados [contaminated], I don’t know how to say that in English. Hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them. We love our people. We love our family, and that’s the way to do it: With love. Don’t forget that, please. Thank you.”
Iconic Meme
Before delivering his strong words on the stage, Bad Bunny shed a tear at his table, a reaction that was captured when he was announced as the winner of the Album of the Year. In this short clip, Bad Bunny took a brief pause, soaked in the victory while covering his eye, before finally gathering himself and proceeding to the stage.
Incredibly, though, fans and viewers of the Grammys were quick to save the reaction video, and they went to town with memes. Although it is too early to say, Bad Bunny’s reaction to winning the Grammys will perhaps feature in the memes of the year list at the end of 2026. It’s timeless. It’s iconic.
“Congratulations, you got the job! You start at 8am on Monday…” an X user captioned the now-viral clip.

Grocery Bagger
Bad Bunny, now worth a fortune and a globally-recognised Latin-trap artist, grew up in a humble lower-middleclass household, Fortune reported. His father worked as a truck driver while mother took up teaching.
During his days in college at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo, Bad Bunny worked as a cashier and a bagger at a supermarket in Vega Baja, the daily noted. He created music during his free hours and uploaded it to SoundCloud.
Inspired by his meteoric rise and his grind, fans and supporters shared the before and after moments of the artist’s life.
“In 2016, Bad Bunny worked at a grocery store. 10 years later, he just won Album Of The Year. What the point if you’re not going to chase your dream? It’s not like this is your practice life… (sic),” an X user wrote.
