Star Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar entered his name in the history books on Thursday, April 30, by becoming the first bowler in the world to take 200 IPL wickets in India

Bhuvneshwar, who is leading the Purple Cap race in IPL 2026, opened his wicket account at Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday (April 30) by getting Sudharsan caught out by Jitesh Sharma on the sixth ball of the third over of GT’s innings. The left-handed batter from
Tamil Nadu could only manage to score 6 runs from five balls.
Bhuvneshwar’s second wicket came on the sixth ball of the fifth over. On the last ball of his third over of the match, he got Shubman Gill (43 runs from 18 balls) caught out by Virat Kohli.
After completing a double century of IPL wickets in India, Bhuvneshwar also picked up Jos Buttler’s wicket. The former England captain was bowled by the senior India pacer on the third ball of the eighth over of GT’s innings in the 156-run chase.
In the list of bowlers with most IPL wickets in India, Bhuvneshwar is followed by Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal, who tops the list of bowlers with most wickets in the cash-rich league, has played 154 IPL matches in India and dismissed 186 batters.
