Although the youngster has a long way to go in his career, the experts of the game seem to be highly impressed with his performance in the ongoing IPL season. Speaking on JioHotstar, former cricketer and JioStar expert Piyush Chawla discussed
‘fearless prodigy’ Madhav Tiwari’s impact with the ball.
“Madhav Tiwari has been extremely impressive, not just in this game but in the previous match as well,” Chawla said.
“For a youngster with limited first-class experience, he already seems to have a lot of variety in his bowling, but the key is having the confidence to execute those options at the right moments, and he’s doing that with remarkable ease.
“Even in Dharamshala, where bowlers were going for plenty, he smartly used his slower balls into the pitch and delivered an important spell. In this game again, just when Rajasthan Royals were building momentum, he picked up the crucial wicket of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and helped slow the scoring rate,” he added.
Tiwari continued his top form against the Rajasthan Royals in Delhi, where DC won their last home game by 5 wickets. He returned 2/27 in four overs, earning praise from head coach Hemang Badani.
Speaking at the post-match presser, Badani said that Tiwari is someone ‘who likes pressure’ and can hit a long ball, bowl through all the phases of the innings.
“If required, he could even bowl in the powerplay, which you have not seen much of yet, but you could see in the last game that he could move the ball, and there was some shape when he bowled. Again, in the middle overs and end overs, he has shown his prowess, so that is pretty much the reason why we felt that he could be a part of our squad,” he added.
