The much-awaited glass bridge in the yoga city of Rishikesh has been partially opened to the public, sparking excitement among locals and tourists alike. While the bridge is not fully operational yet, the road section has been opened, allowing people to cross from one end to the other.
Glass Walk Sections Still Closed
The glass-floor sections at both ends of the bridge remain closed as final construction work, including painting, colouring, and finishing touches, is still underway.
Authorities have clarified that the glass walk will open only after all safety and technical tests are completed.
Tourists who have been waiting for the bridge for a long time see even this partial opening as a relief. The project is being viewed as a major milestone for tourism in Rishikesh, designed
to offer visitors a thrilling and unique experience.
Unique Design Over The Ganga
The glass bridge stands out for its special design and structure. Once fully open, visitors will be able to see the Ganga flowing beneath their feet through the transparent glass floor, along with the surrounding natural scenery, making it a one-of-a-kind attraction.
Officials have confirmed that the section currently open to the public is completely safe for crossing. However, the glass walk area will remain inaccessible until all safety standards and technical inspections are fully cleared.
Tourists Share Their Excitement
Uttam Pandey, a tourist from Bihar, said he had heard a lot about the glass bridge and was eager to see it in person. He found the design and construction impressive but is waiting for the bridge to fully open so he can experience it properly.
Another tourist, Pranjal, described the bridge as unique and said it would give Rishikesh tourism a new identity. He added that he plans to return once the bridge is completely operational.
Final Work In Progress, No Opening Date Yet
According to officials, the remaining construction work is in its final stage. Safety checks, finishing work, and beautification are being carried out at a fast pace.
While no official opening date has been announced yet, the department has stated that the bridge will be opened to the public only after all technical and safety procedures are completed.
