New Delhi, May 30 (PTI) The Public Works Department (PWD) will carry out fire safety audit of its buildings across Delhi, officials said on Saturday.
According to the order issued by the department, the audit has to be completed by the end of next month.
“All the concerned executive engineers of the East, North and South Zone are hereby directed to conduct a fire audit of each building maintained by them under their jurisdiction and issue a certificate every year on or before 25th June,” a PWD order said.
In case, any deficiency is observed, the same may kindly be made good under the maintenance works and adhere all the building provisions as per the NBC Building safety norms, the order added.
The move comes after recently the Delhi government amended
its Delhi fire service rules. Under the new norms a third party audit of buildings is mandatory and then issue fire safety certificates. PTI SSM NB NB
