Will Schools Remain Closed On November 3?
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its special coastal weather bulletin issued on November 2, said Cyclone Murasu had intensified into a severe cyclonic storm. It forecast that the storm would cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur, close to Ongole, around midnight on November 2 or in the early hours of November 3. The IMD forecast wind speeds of 100–110 kmph, with gusts reaching 120 kmph.
In view of the expected landfall and adverse weather, district administrations may announce further school closures for November 3. However, a confirmed statewide holiday order for that date has not been established. Parents and students should follow official district announcements before travelling to schools.
Students and parents are advised to check announcements from their respective District Collectors and school authorities for confirmation of holidays.
According to the IMD, the storm is expected to affect the south Andhra Pradesh coast, particularly the stretch between Nellore and Narsapur. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is also forecast in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
