An Excise officer in Kerala has been suspended for taking part in a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) route march, sources told News18 on Tuesday.
KV Shanmughan, an Assistant Excise Inspector posted at the Manarkkad range office in Palakkad district, was suspended pending an inquiry.
According to the source, he took part in the RSS route march held at Kalladikottu on October 2, during the Mahanavami celebrations, wearing the organisation’s uniform.
His participation in the event was found to be a clear violation of the service rules governing Kerala government employees. Action against him was initiated after the Palakkad District Police Chief submitted a report confirming his involvement, the source said.
Under the Kerala Government Servants’ Conduct
Rules, government employees are prohibited from joining political or ideological organisations, or from taking part in activities that may compromise the neutrality of public service.
