Lucknow, May 29 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh capital witnessed relief from scorching heat on Friday as it recorded a maximum temperature of 33.0 degrees Celsius, 7.1 degrees below the normal mark, and a minimum of 20.9 degrees Celsius, the meteorological department said.
Rainfall was recorded in Basti (3.0 mm), Gorakhpur (2.1 mm), Azamgarh (0.8 mm) and Jhansi (in trace amount).
Hamirpur was the hottest place in the state, where mercury soared to 40.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Lakhimpur Kheri (40 degrees Celsius).
Thunderstorm/lightning accompanied with gusty winds is very likely at isolated places over western Uttar Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh, officials said.
Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over western part of the state, the meteorological
