A French woman living in India has sparked a debate on social media after her latest post comparing her present place of residence and her birth country went viral. The woman described how France was behind India in a few things, drawing comparisons between the two nations. The woman highlighted three things about India which she admired.
Her post instantly garnered attention, with several people praising the woman for highlighting the positive side of India.
French Woman Highlights Three Big Areas Where India Is Ahead
For the woman, the three areas where India was way ahead of France were its “sense of community, natural beauty and handwoven textiles.” She was particularly impressed by the clothes available in India, saying that these fabrics
would usually be assimilated into high fashion in France.
Dropping a short clip of herself feeding rabbits, the woman wrote, “Sense of community – that one is a topic my friends and I talk about a lot. Some have explained to me how sometimes they feel like the weight of expectations is hard to carry. As a foreigner I can’t comment on this, because I’ll never be able to experience it like they do. However, coming from a country that is much more individualistic, it’s so nice to feel like everyone’s got your back, is ready to help you out.”
She explained that it was “endearing” to see people take care of each other as if they were family.
Coming to natural beauty, the woman said that while France had its own advantages, India was home to deserts, mountains, jungles, backwaters and more, proving that it provided every kind of climate and environment a person could want.
Speaking of textiles, the woman was all praise for the sector and wrote, “Textiles- the amount of care and effort put into the embroidery/bead sewing keeps BLOWING MY MIND!!! Even kurtis my friends find basic, seem luxurious to me! In France, these fabrics are usually assimilated to high fashion/ costly clothes.”
What Did The Internet Say?
People were impressed by the woman’s take, with one of them saying, “Beautiful.” Another commented, “So true.” Several people also added things where they felt India was ahead of other countries, like food and spices.
Referring to the recent India-EU free trade agreement, a person remarked, “Don’t worry, ma’am. Upon ratification of the India-Europe FTA, Indian textiles will be cheaper in France.”
French Woman Posts About Five Things India Does Better
The woman also dropped another post praising India’s street food, jewellery and hospitality. She highlighted how she also liked the night buses in the country more than Flixbus in France. “Don’t get me wrong, I love Flixbus in France, but they are definitely not as comfy as those sleeper AC buses!! Plus, the country is so well-connected. If you have time, don’t fly, just travel around this way, you’ll see gorgeous landscapes from a comfortable lil’ bed,” she explained.
She also remarked how having street food in India was an interesting experience, not just in terms of the taste and affordable options, but also the chance to talk to the locals and read the newspapers.
