One of two crew members from a US fighter jet shot down over Iran has been located and rescued by US Special Forces, while the search for the second continues, Israeli media and CBS News reported on Friday.
An Israeli official, cited by Axios, also said that Israel has cancelled planned strikes in Iran in a bid not to interfere with the US search and rescue efforts.
The incident involved an American fighter jet that was reportedly hit by Iranian fire, forcing both crew members to eject. According to the sources, both managed to eject safely before the aircraft went down.

US special forces subsequently located one of the airmen on Iranian territory and successfully rescued him alive, the sources confirmed. The condition
has not been publicly disclosed, and no further details have been provided about the circumstances of the rescue.

Several footage on social media show American aircraft looking for the downed fighter jets.
US Sources Confirm Downing Of Jets
A report by CNN said that three US sources had confirmed Iranian state media reports of the downing of the American jet.
The report further added that a video geolocated by CNN showed multiple low-flying military aircraft over Khuzestan Province in central Iran, where one aeroplane was seen flying low over the ground while two helicopters followed closely behind – a formation consistent with an air-to-air refuelling operation. As per CNN, the video was taken on a bridge over the Karoon River, which is about 470 km south of Tehran.
However, the development is yet to be confirmed by the White House, Pentagon and US Central Command.
If confirmed, this would be the first time that the US has lost an aircraft in Iranian territory since the onset of dramatic escalation between Iran-Israel-US. It is also not clear yet that whether the jet was shot down or crashed
