The gazette notification for the BMC Ward No. 196 (G/South) was issued on December 15, 2025 (Monday), the last date of scrutiny of nominations was December 31, 2025 (Wednesday) and the last date of withdrawal of nominations was January 2, 2026 (Friday). This ward voted on Thursday, January 15, 2026 and the counting of votes is happening on Friday, January 16, 2026.

The extent of the ward as published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette is as follows: A line starting from the junction of Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Marg and Dr.Narayan S. Hardikar Marg at J.K. Kapur Chowk and running eastwards along the southside of Narayan S. Hardikar Marg upto its junction with Dr.Annie Besant Road ; thence southwards along the westside of Dr. Annie Besant Road upto its junction with Pandurang Budhkar Marg (Globe Mill Passage); thence eastwards along the southside of Pandurang Budhkar Marg upto its junction with G. M. Bhosale Marg; thence southwards along the westside of G.M. Bhosale Marg and Dr.Annie Besant Road upto its junction with Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Marg; thence westwards along the northside of Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Marg upto its junction at Worli Dairy; Thence along the north side towards the west along the Coastal Road up to the beach, thence along the east side of the said Coastal Road towards the north across the Bandra-Worli Sea-Link Road up to underground Road, then continue along the underground Road towards the eastward of south side upto Khan Abdul Khan Ghaffar Road. thence northwards along the eastside of Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan Marg upto its junction with Dr. Narayan S. PREVIOUS BMC ELECTION RESULT
The last Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections were held on February 21, 2017, in which Shiv Sena was the single largest party with 84 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 82 seats. Indian National Congress secured 31 seats, Nationalist Congress Party won nine, and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena won seven seats. Other parties included Samajwadi Party, which won six seats; the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen won two seats and the Akhil Bhartiya Sena won a single seat. Five Independent candidates also won seats in the election.
