Music composer Amaal Mallik has finally addressed the long-standing claims of Salman Khan being biased towards him in Bigg Boss 19. The composer went on to explain that he had not informed Salman about
his decision to join Bigg Boss 19, which he believes contributed to the host’s initial anger and a less warm introduction.
In an exclusive chat with Zoom, Amaal opened up about their family association, but clarified the nature of their relationship.
Amaal Addressed Claims Of Salman Khan Being Biased
Amaal attributed the perception of bias to their legacy family connection, stating, “I think this is a perception because we come from this legacy family, and my father has worked with Salman Khan, my uncle has worked.”
While acknowledging that he exists in the industry because of the superstar, he humorously stated that it is not a situation where Salman “picked me up and kept me in his lap.”
“I have done three-four songs. So there is a working relationship and a little bit because when you work and they have worked with the parents and the uncle and everyone. So there is that family association. Yes, but it is true that I exist in this industry as a music composer because of Salman Khan. But it is not like he picked me up and kept me in his lap, and whatever I do, he says, ‘My son, you did very well.’ It is not like that,” he added.
He added that most of the scolding he received didn’t make it to the final cut of Weekend Ka Vaar episodes. “If, according to people, I got 30% scolding, then I got 70%. But then the whole episode becomes only about me. Also, think that they have to show parts of others also getting scolded,” he said.
Addressed Assumptions That Salman Spoke Only To Him
Amaal also addressed the criticism that Salman spoke only to him, clarifying that the host called him out that week only because he had done something and that there was nothing to talk about with those who had not.
Interestingly, Amaal revealed that Salman Khan didn’t know he was entering Bigg Boss 19, which led to a less warm introduction. He further explained, “Salman had gone personal and questioned if this was the real Amaal Mallik he had come to show in the house.” He stated that because he had not informed the actor about his appearance on the show, Salman appeared angrier at first, resulting in a less friendly introduction.
“A lot of people felt that okay, more should have been spoken on this topic, but many things were said. I am sorry if it did not make the cut. That is not in my hand, that is in Colors and Endemol’s hand. And if they want to put out the footage of how many times Salman Khan has bashed me, even Basir and even GK, even someone like Nehal or Farrhana, they would feel that in all their fan clubs this is going on,” he added.
“Reverse Nepotism” Argument
During a heated argument on the show with actor-contestant Gaurav Khanna, Amaal retorted that he and his family experienced “reverse-nepotism.” “Mere papa ko kabhi Anu Malik ka support mila hi nahi… hum reverse nepotism ke product hain sir (My father never got the support of Anu Malik… We are the product of reverse nepotism, sir). Daboo Malik was a failure and I have no problem in admitting it. My father failed,” he said.
