Haldwani woman with world's longest hair shares her secret

Haldwani (Uttarakhand), Aug 10 (PTI) Renu Dhariyal from Uttarakhand’s Haldwani, who has broken the record for having the world’s longest hair, on Monday revealed her secret ingredient behind the achievement.

The 35-year-old woman credited patience, which helped her grow and maintain such long hair, which measures 8 feet 10 inches, or 271.50 cm.

She said the journey began in 2015, and for over 11 years, she had to take constant care and be patient while washing, drying and detangling the hair, which used to take several hours.

She further said that her hair had to be braided in a specific way to keep it off the ground.

However, Renu never viewed the constant care as a burden. It was a childhood wish to keep long hair, which evolved into a passion

over time.

She asserted that for her, her hair represents more than just a record.

It is an integral part of Indian culture and tradition, where long hair has long been considered a symbol of beauty and womanhood, she emphasised.

Originally from Pithoragarh district, Renu currently resides in the Kathghariya area of ​​Haldwani. She is also a YouTuber and regularly shares videos regarding the care of her long hair, her experiences, and beauty tips with her audience on social media.

Talking about the record, Renu told PTI that a Guinness World Records team visited Haldwani in April to formally inspect and measure her hair, recording a length of 271.50 cm. With this, Renu’s name was entered into the record books as the living woman with the longest hair.

Previously, the record for the longest hair was held by Ukraine’s Aliiia Nasyrova, whose hair measured 257.33 cm. PTI DPT AMJ AMJ
