The 15-year-old showed no mercy to the SRH bowlers, hammering them all around the park on Wednesday evening. Sooryavanshi scored a fiery 97 off just 29 balls, smashing 12 sixes in the innings. Sooryavanshi’s blitz in New Chandigarh
has left the cricketing world impressed. Legends of the game have been showering praise on the 15-year-old, with former KKR all-rounder Andre Russell the latest to join the bandwagon.
Russell, who stands third on the list of batters with the most sixes in a single IPL season, shared a photo on his Instagram story admiring Sooryavanshi. Calling himself a “big fan,” Russell also advised the youngster to ignore the haters, especially those questioning his real age.
Sooryavanshi smashed as many as 12 sixes in his breathtaking knock and missed the IPL’s fastest hundred by just a few yards.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s aggressive strokeplay laid the foundation for the Royals’ imposing 243/8, even though they lost momentum towards the end. While his innings grabbed the headlines, Jofra Archer’s fiery spell proved decisive. The England quick ripped through SRH’s top order in the powerplay, dismissing Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Ishan Kishan to put them on the back foot early.
Chasing a stiff target, Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to recover from the early setbacks and were bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs. Rajasthan Royals now move on to Qualifier 2, where they will take on Gujarat Titans for a place in the final.
