Iranian, US Delegations To Meet Pakistani Officials Separately Before Joint Talks | Exclusive

Iranian and US delegations in Islamabad are set to meet Pakistani officials separately at first, followed by a joint meeting, as the county hosts high-stakes talks to sustain the fragile ceasefire in the ongoing West Asia conflict.

An Iranian delegation is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad tonight

, sources told CNN-News18 on Thursday. Meanwhile, the American delegation will visit Pakistan in two to three phases.

The first phase of the US visit will see security officials arrive tonight, followed by the second tier of officials in the coming days.

Top US officials, including Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, will arrive during the first phase, while Vice President JD Vance is expected to visit Pakistan in the second phase, the source added.

Official sources in Islamabad said that initially, the Iranian and US delegations will not meet directly. Instead, each side will hold separate meetings with Pakistani officials to discuss the regional situation and the ongoing ceasefire efforts.

A joint meeting between the Iranian and US delegations is expected to take place only after their individual discussions with Islamabad’s representatives, the sources said.

The first phase of the US delegation will include Senior Advisor Jared Kushner and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, while Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to arrive during the second phase.

The US team will also include senior officials from the White House and the Pentagon. The Iranian side is led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, along with Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, and other officials.

This marks the highest-level engagement between the US and Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The meetings follow US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire with Iran, conditional on Tehran agreeing to a “complete, immediate, and safe opening” of the Strait of Hormuz.
