Imtiaz Ali’s Daughter Ida Ali Gets Engaged To Krish Agarwal, Shares Beachside Proposal Video

Filmmaker and writer Ida Ali, daughter of director Imtiaz Ali, is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Krish Agarwal. Ida announced the news on Sunday, July 12, by sharing a short video from what appears to have been a private beachside proposal.

The clip keeps the moment simple. It begins with a view of a quiet beach framed by mountains before Ida lifts her hand to show a diamond ring. She smiles in disbelief, briefly covering her mouth, while Krish soon steps into the frame. The couple then takes a selfie with the landscape behind them.

Ida captioned the post, “01/07/26 11pm Ytresand,” revealing that the proposal took place at 11 pm on July 1 in Ytresand.

Who Is Ida Ali?

At 26, Ida has already begun building a career separate from her father’s filmography. She first attracted attention as a teenager after directing the short film Lift at the age of 17.

She later wrote the Amazon miniTV romantic drama Uljhe Hue. Ida also founded Refresh, a digital platform centred on youth experiences and conversations around mental health.

Her interest in filmmaking led her to Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in California, where she studied the craft formally. She has also delivered a TEDx Talk about pursuing creative ambitions and working through the uncertainty that comes with choosing an unconventional career.

While being Imtiaz Ali’s daughter naturally brought early attention, Ida has gradually created her own space as a writer, director and digital creator. Her engagement announcement now marks a personal milestone she chose to share without a long note or a formal photoshoot.
