Munawar Faruqui Asks Why Celebrities Stayed Silent For 25 Days During NEET Protests: 'It's Disappointing'

Munawar Faruqui took to Instagram today to pen a strong-worded post regarding the ongoing NEET protests. The actor and comedian didn’t bat an eye while questioning the silence of celebrities on the issue. He asked the stars why they suddenly found voice after 25 days of the protest.

Munawar wrote in his note, “It’s disappointing most celebrities suddenly finding their voice only after the PM spoke and public sentiment shifted. For last 25 days, most stayed silent while young people took to the streets, faced criticism and paid the price for speaking up. If you are going to take a stand, do it without fear, not only when its safe. Support driven by pressure or public opinion isn’t courage, its convenience.”

The CJP-led protests have continued for over two weeks, with students and job aspirants demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in the education sector, particularly the NEET paper leak. The protesters are also seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and broader reforms to the examination system. Earlier this month, social activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the movement and began a hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

He called off his 26-day hunger strike late Thursday night at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital in the presence of Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.
