New Delhi, Jun 16 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh will host the national launch of rural livelihood scheme Viksit Bharat –Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) on July 1, Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Tuesday after a meeting with the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
The announcement was made at a meeting held here to review the implementation of rural development programmes and flagship schemes in Andhra Pradesh.
According to an official statement, rural development ministers from all states and Union Territories will join the launch programme through video conferencing.
Andhra Pradesh will showcase its model panchayats and zero-waste gram panchayats at the event, highlighting innovations in rural governance,
sustainable development and community participation, the statement said.
During the meeting, Kalyan said all works taken up under the rural development schemes in Andhra Pradesh have been geo-tagged to ensure transparency and accountability. He also said the state has nearly completed implementation of a face recognition-based beneficiary verification system.
Kalyan said construction of rural roads and houses under various Central schemes was progressing rapidly in the state and highlighted efforts to improve rural infrastructure and livelihoods.
He thanked the Centre for an interim allocation of more than Rs 7,700 crore under the VB-G RAM G initiative and said the assistance would help accelerate rural development works in Andhra Pradesh.
The statement said coffee plantation activities have also been included under the mission in the state to create additional livelihood opportunities and diversify rural incomes.
Rural Development Secretary Rohit Kansal said the ministry would support the development of model coastal panchayats in Andhra Pradesh.
He also said approval has been granted under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission for extending support to women self-help groups, including the purchase of vehicles for Lakhpati Didis.
Chouhan also invited Kalyan to participate in the National Rural Development Conference to be held in New Delhi on June 28 and 29, where states will discuss implementation of the VB-G RAM G scheme and share best practices in rural development. PTI AO RUK RUK
