‘Schizophrenia, Hallucinations And Delusions’: Iran Takes Swipe At Trump Over Claiming Hormuz

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, has criticised US President Donald Trump over his statements concerning the Strait of Hormuz, comparing them to symptoms associated with schizophrenia.

Gharibabadi made the remarks in a post on X, responding to an image shared by Trump in which the Strait of Hormuz was presented as “new territory” of the United States.

Gharibabadi Invokes Schizophrenia Symptoms

In his post, Gharibabadi described schizophrenia as a “complex and acute psychotic disorder” characterised by disturbances in thought and a distorted perception of reality.

He then referred to hallucinations and delusions as common symptoms associated with the disorder.

Gharibabadi appeared to draw a comparison between those symptoms and Trump’s statements about the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran Official Responds To Trump’s Strait Of Hormuz Image

The Iranian deputy foreign minister attached to his post the image shared by Trump, in which the Strait was described as “new territory” of the United States.

Gharibabadi further wrote that psychologists recommend that patients experiencing such symptoms be monitored and treated around the clock.

His remarks represent a sharp response to Trump’s statement and come amid heightened rhetoric surrounding the strategically important waterway.

What Gharibabadi Said

Gharibabadi wrote that schizophrenia is characterised by disturbances in thought and a distorted perception of reality, adding that “the most common symptoms are hallucinations and delusions.”

He also said psychologists recommend round-the-clock monitoring and treatment for such patients.
