The event follows the Chess 960 format with the pieces on the board set in random patterns behind the file of pawns as the first two games between the legends ended in draws with the icons feeling each other out and matching one another blow for blow.
Anand seemingly had the advantage in the first game, but let Kasparov off the hook as the 62-year-old navigated his way back into the tie and pulled off a draw.
However, the third game proved to be the decisive as Kasparov capitalised on a strong end-game to zoom ahead of his Indian competitor before closing out the fourth and final board with a draw.
The event boasts a total prize pool of 144,000 USD with the winner taking home 70,000 USD while the runner-up will be richer by 50,000 USD.
The second day of the tournament will award two points for the victor, and a win on the third day of the event will hand the triumphant three points in a tournament offerring points corresponding to the day of play.
