'She Lights Up Every Room': Barack Obama's Heartfelt Birthday Post For Wife Michelle

As Michelle Obama turned 62 on Saturday, January 17, former US President Barack Obama shared a heartfelt social media post celebrating her with warm words.

In a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Obama shared a picture of the couple smiling against a blue backdrop, with a heartfelt message on her birthday. He wrote, “Happy birthday to the woman who lights up every room she walks into. I love you, Miche.”

In the photo, Michelle wore a navy top and sleek ponytail while Obama appeared in a crisp white shirt, as per InStyle. Last year, the former president had also penned a similar

tribute for his wife.

“Happy birthday to the love of my life, @MichelleObama. You fill every room with warmth, wisdom, humor, and grace—and you look good doing it. I’m so lucky to be able to take on life’s adventures with you. Love you!” he wrote last year.

Last year, the Obamas dismissed speculations surrounding their alleged divorce with an appearance on Michelle’s brother Craig Robinson’s podcast – IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson. “She took me back! It was touch and go for a while,” Barack Obama said in a lighter note, breaking all of them into laughter.

The former First Lady chimed in, saying, “It’s my husband, y’all. Her brother Craig joked, “It’s so nice to have you both in the same room together.” Smiling, Michelle responded, “I know, because when we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced.”

Their divorce rumours spread in early 2025 after Michelle did not attend the funeral of former US President Jimmy Carter, and also skipped Donald Trump’s January 20 inauguration.

Michelle said that marriage was hard both for her and her husband, but she would not trade her relationship with Barack Obama for anything in the world, calling him “my person”.

Barack and Michelle, who met at a law firm in the late 1980s, married in 1992. Over the years, Michelle too has spoken candidly about their struggles. In a 2022 interview, she had said there were “ten years where I couldn’t stand my husband.”
