A travel content creator from Poland, currently in India, has shared an “unfiltered and real” encounter at a railway station in New Delhi, where a person allegedly tried to scam her.
In a video on Instagram, the woman, named Klaudia Falenta, highlighted viewers a less glamorous side of travelling alone.
‘Hate Train Stations in Delhi’
Klaudia said she almost did not wanted to show such clips since it was “so out of my character to be angry like this and I don’t like seeing it.”
“But then, I wouldn’t stay true to what I wanted to do which is show travel for what it really is. The unfiltered and real, travel is not always positive and happy and that’s when you grow the most as a person” she wrote.
In the beginning of the video, Klaudia appeared visibly
shaken at a railway station in the national capital. The content creator noted that she “hate” Delhi stations as a man tried to “straight-up scam me”.
“I’m literally foaming in my mouth,” she added.
Describing her “another crazy travel day in India,” Klaudia said that this particular incident “definitely got my blood boiling.”
Klaudia shared that she had arrived at the railway station in Delhi via Uber to board a train to Varanasi after an eight-hour train journey. However, when she reached the railway station, a man allegedly stopped her at entrance and asked to show the train ticket. She claimed that the person told her that her train ticket was invalid.
The person “basically tried to scam me,” she said and added that he asked her to go with him to a far away office for fixing the issue.
Klaudia said she spent about 10 minutes arguing with him and even showed him some of the earlier tickets as proof.
“… showed him that my other tickets are exactly the same and then he let met go. So, clearly he tried to scam me,” she said in the clip.
She said the reason why she got so “stressed and angry” was because her train was due to depart in 10 minutes.
“I believe this man was stalling for time, so I missed my train and I had to buy a ticket from him,” she said.
When she made her way inside the station, Klaudia said her platform had been closed. She was then helped by a stranger, who spoke in Hindi, and made her reach the station’s back corridors.
In the end, she managed to board the train just in time and called the entire incident “an intense one.”
Later on, Klaudia’s journey was good as she met a family, who helped her calm down and enjoy the trip.
Meanwhile, Klaudia has even clarified on her Instagram Story that she belongs to Poland and does not have a husband and kids.
How Did The Internet React?
In the comments section of the posts, several users expressed their views on the matter and even praised Klaudia for her awareness.
“Just don’t talk to those characters…Just mind your business when you are dealing with them,” one person wrote.
Another added, “Well done recognising the scam and moving away from it. Look after yourself and enjoy your travels.”
A third person wrote, “More strength to you… you will have better experience at other Indian locations”.
