Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday stressed the importance of mental well-being, urging people to foster compassion and create open spaces for discussions around mental health.
In a post on X on the
occasion of World Mental Health Day, the Prime Minister wrote, World Mental Health Day serves as a powerful reminder that mental health is a fundamental part of our overall well-being.”
PM Modi’s message highlights the growing importance of addressing mental health challenges in today’s high-pressure world. His remarks come at a time when awareness about mental well-being is gaining momentum globally, with governments, organisations, and mental health professionals stressing the need for early intervention, empathy, and community support.
“In a fast-paced world, this day underscores the importance of reflecting and extending compassion to others. Let us also work collectively to create environments where conversations around mental health become more mainstream. My compliments to all those working in this field and helping others heal and find happiness,” he further wrote.
World Mental Health Day is observed every year on October 10. It aims to raise awareness about mental health issues and mobilise efforts to support mental well-being worldwide.
