A green and white balloon with ‘Pakistan’ written on it was recovered from the Ranjan area under the jurisdiction of Gharota Police Station in Jammu.
The spot where the balloon was found lies around three
kilometres inside the Indo-Pakistan International Border.
Following the recovery, a police team, along with Army personnel, reached the site and seized the balloon.
Further investigations are underway.
On Friday, in a significant operational success, the Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted several cross-border smuggling attempts, leading to substantial recoveries along the Punjab border.
News agency ANI quoted official sources as saying that the BSF troops conducted a meticulous search operation on Thursday afternoon near the village of Kaluwala in Ferozepur, recovering a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone from an agricultural field, as per the release.
In another operation conducted during the late evening, acting on specific intelligence, BSF personnel, in conjunction with Punjab police, seized one packet of heroin weighing 552 grams from farming fields adjacent to the village of Hazara Ram Singh Wala in Fazilka district.
On November 6, in its ongoing crackdown against narcotics trafficking, a drug peddler’s property worth Rs 53 lakh was attached in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.
The attached assets include a single-storey residential house and a cattle shed owned by Mohammad Baru, a native of Laswara in Bishnah who currently resides in Bari Brahmana.
The action was taken under sections of the NDPS Act and is linked to cases registered at the Bari Brahmana police station.
The police said that the properties were found to be illegally acquired through proceeds of narcotic drug trafficking.
During the investigation, Rs 16,58,660 cash was also seized from Baru.
The total value of illegally acquired assets and seized cash is estimated at around Rs 70 lakh.
Baru is a habitual offender and is involved in at least 12 criminal cases, including three NDPS cases currently under trial at police stations in Samba and Jammu districts.
The police said that the action reflects their commitment to intensifying the fight against the drug menace in the region.
