Bengaluru, Jun 25 (PTI) A 45-year-old man, who was a friend of Kannada actress Krishi Thapanda, died allegedly by suicide at her apartment here, police said on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Vaishak, they said.
The matter came to light on Thursday morning when he was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her apartment in Rajarajeshwarinagar here, police said.
Citing preliminary investigation, a senior police officer said the man was suffering from depression. He had a key to her apartment and frequently visited the flat. He came there on Wednesday night and was alone at the flat when he allegedly took the extreme step.
However, no suicide note has been recovered from the spot, he said.
Earlier, he had reportedly called the actress, who was
away, and informed her that he intended to end his life. She immediately alerted his family members, who rushed to the flat only to find him dead, the officer said.
According to police, Vaishak was earlier arrested in connection with a case involving alleged threats to a businessman but was later released on bail.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the reasons that prompted him to take the extreme step, police said. PTI AMP ROH
