If you have ever been on a busy street in India, you might have noticed that honking plays like a constant background soundtrack. Drivers honk at even the littlest inconveniences, whether it is waiting
for the red signal to turn green, being stuck in traffic for too long, or when the vehicle in front of them pauses due to a minor engine issue or an unexpected obstacle. In India, honking is directly correlated to the driver’s patience.
Now, a foreign woman travelling from Cherrapunji to Shillong in India with her friends has highlighted a similar situation that has sparked laughter online. She posted a video on Instagram, sharing that her cab driver honked so excessively that the horn eventually stopped working. What made the moment even funnier was the fact that, despite being aware that it was broken, the driver continued pressing the button repeatedly.
Woman Shares Hilarious Honk-Failure In India
In the clip, when the woman urged the driver to “do it again and press the horn”, he responded with a laugh, admitting that nothing was working. That’s when she playfully revealed that the driver caused the horn failure due to “pressing it too many times.” The video concluded with the woman stating, “This is music to my ear.”
“Indian honking is WILD.
People beep to overtake, to warn, to say “I am here”, and even in standstill traffic when no one is moving and there is literally nothing to beep at. India’s roads are chaotic, loud and unhinged. But you embrace the madness; it genuinely becomes part of the charm,” captioned the woman.
Internet Gets A Good Laugh
“Well, Indians press the horn according to their mood and emergency. There will be different music themes on the same horn, depending on the patience level,” joked a user. “I hope this happens to all the cars in our country so that we civilians can live in peace for at least 1 day,” read another fun remark.
Someone commented, “I hope this happens to all the cars in our country so that we civilians can live with peace for at least 1 day.”
“Indian cars do not have horns. So, the traffic police have to obey the drivers,” read a sarcastic remark. “So nice to see how happy you all are,” gushed an individual.
