Aryan Juyal scored an unbeaten 150 to overshadow Sumit Ghadigaonkar’s efforts, leading Uttar Pradesh to a 58-run victory over Assam via the VJD method in a rain-affected Vijay Hazare Trophy match, maintaining
their top position in Group B.
Assam, opting to bat first, saw their captain Ghadigaonkar hit a brilliant 101 off 86 balls, supported by Sibsankar Roy’s 82 off 83 deliveries. However, Zeeshan Ansari (3/60) and Vipraj Nigam (4/66) slowed them down, and Assam was bowled out for 308 in 48.4 overs.
Chasing a challenging target, Juyal anchored the innings with a stunning 150 not out off 140 balls, including 15 fours and three sixes. Juyal, who scored 80 and 134 in two of the previous three matches, is not keeping wickets currently, as Dhruv Jurel has taken over the role.
Priyam Garg supported Juyal with a solid 52 off 53 balls, featuring five fours, while captain Rinku Singh added a quick 37 off 15 balls, propelling Uttar Pradesh to 291 for two in 42 overs when rain interrupted play.
Darshan Nalkande shines for Vidarbha
At the Niranjan Shah Stadium, pacer Darshan Nalkande took four wickets to help Vidarbha secure an eight-wicket win over Chandigarh, marking their third victory of the tournament.
Nalkande (4/33), along with Nachiket Bhute (2/18) and Dipesh Parwani (2/22), excelled with the ball as Vidarbha bowled out Chandigarh for 113 in 29.1 overs.
Chandigarh never recovered from a dreadful start, losing three wickets in eight balls to slump to 4 for 3 in the second over. Sanyam Saini (36) provided some resistance, following efforts from Arslan Khan (27), Nikhil Thakur (17), and Taranpreet Singh (17). Five Chandigarh batters were dismissed for ducks.
Chasing the target, Vidarbha’s openers Atharva Taide (43 not out) and Dhruv Shorey (43) led the scoring, achieving victory in 22.3 overs.
Baroda beat Hyderabad by 37 runs
At the Sanosara Cricket Ground B, Baroda defeated Hyderabad by 37 runs in a high-scoring encounter.
Batting first, Amit Pasi (127), Nitya Pandya (122), and Krunal Pandya (109) each hit commanding centuries, leading Baroda to a massive total of 417 for four.
In response, Abhirath Reddy (130) and Pragnay Reddy (113) put up a strong fight, but Hyderabad were bowled out for 380 in 49.5 overs.
