Former India batting coach Vikram Rathour has been appointed as Sri Lanka’s batting coach for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which starts on February 7. The tournament will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka Cricket announced the appointment, stating that Rathour will serve in a consultancy role primarily focused on preparing the team for the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2026. Rathour will begin his duties on January 18 and will continue until March 10.
Rathour, a former India international, represented the country in six Tests and seven ODIs. At 56 years old, he served as India’s batting coach from September 2019 to July 2024 and holds a BCCI level 3 coaching certification. In the IPL, Rathour is part of the Rajasthan Royals’ support staff.
