Sonbhadra (UP), Jul 1 (PTI) Police arrested five members of a gang in Sonbhadra district here on Wednesday for allegedly forging a form used for mineral transport permits to facilitate illegal mineral transportation, officials said. Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma said police and the mining department arrested the accused during a joint operation following complaints about illegal mineral transportation using forged permits.
Acting on a tip-off, police first arrested truck driver Dilip Prajapati.
Verma said based on his interrogation, a raid was conducted at the office of AK Enterprises in Billi-Markundi, where four more accused — Amarnath Tripathi alias Raju, Ritesh Jaiswal, Mohan alias Ajay Kumar and Santosh Kumar Jaiswal — were arrested.
The SP said police recovered a laptop, printer, security paper, around 1,000 previously used e-form C/MM-11 permits allegedly reused to generate forged transport permits, and other incriminating documents from the premises. Verma said during interrogation the accused allegedly admitted to altering details such as vehicle registration numbers, dates and timings on old permits and using them to facilitate the illegal transportation of stone aggregates (gitti).
He said a case has been registered against the accused at the Robertsganj police station under relevant provisions of law.
Police said efforts are underway to arrest three other members of the gang who are absconding. PTI COR KIS ASD ASD
