'Satish Shah Was Very Jovial, Would Always Pull Ravi Baswani's Leg:' Suchitra Krishnamoorthi | Exclusive

Satish Shah and Kundan Shah had a very rich association. The duo had worked together on Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, both of which have attained cult status over the years. Suchitra Krishnamoorthi marked her Hindi film debut with the latter. In the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Satish played Suchitra’s father. When News18 Showsha reached out to her following his demise, she was shocked, stating she hadn’t heard of his passing.

“Oh my god! I didn’t know this. I hadn’t heard the news. I’m in such a big shock,” she exclaimed. The duo didn’t work together after Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and the film remained their first and last collaboration. But Suchitra always held him close to his heart and has fond memories of him.

“He was the most jovial,

loving and supportive co-star. I never saw him in a mood when he wasn’t jovial. He was so kind and warm towards me on the sets of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. He was the same every time I met him, even after that film. And what a fine actor he was. What he has achieved as an actor is just unbelievable,” said Suchitra, while heaping praises on Satish – the actor and the human being.

His comic timing wasn’t just limited to the screen. Even off-camera, he didn’t leave any opportunity to have fun and jokingly pick on his co-stars. Recalling an episode, Suchitra told us, “I remember Satish would always take on Ravi Baswani and pull his leg. Satish used to keep telling him, ‘Tum itna hihi kyun karte rehte ho?’ These are the little things I remember of him.”

So, when did she last speak to Satish? “I had last met him many years back. I must have bumped into him socially. It was hardly a meeting,” remarked Suchitra, as she hurried to speak to his family and visit them.

On a related note, Satish passed away this afternoon in Hinduja Hospital at the age of 74. He’s survived by his wife, designer Madhu Shah. Veteran filmmaker Ashoke Pandit revealed that Satish succumbed to kidney failure. His health suddenly deteriorated at home and he was rushed to the hospital where he breathed his last. Satish has starred in films such as Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, Om Shanti Om and others.
