Ranchi, Jun 23 (PTI) The father of an 18-month-old missing girl wrote to the Jharkhand chief minister’s secretariat on Tuesday, demanding a high-level investigation into the matter.
Officials said that the toddler has been missing from her house in Khorha Colony here since May 9.
In his letter to the chief minister, Manish Kumar Pandey said, “My youngest daughter has been missing for the last 46 days, and we are not satisfied with the local police’s investigation, as it has not yielded the results we were expecting.
“Therefore, I urge you to initiate a high-level investigation into my daughter’s case,” he said in the letter.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren had taken cognisance of the matter in May itself and directed Ranchi police to intensify efforts
to trace the girl.
On Tuesday, the toddler’s father said, “I submitted an application at the CM’s secretariat to seek an appointment with Chief Minister Soren to request a high-level investigation into the case. I am not satisfied with the local police investigation.” Ranchi (City) Superintendent of Police Paras Rana said the application had been forwarded to the CM’s secretariat.
He further said the police had investigated the case properly.
“So far, not a single clue has emerged indicating the girl’s abduction. The police have analysed CCTV footage in the area four times, but each time it was confirmed that the girl had not stepped out of the house,” the SP said.
“Our investigation into the case is almost over. We strongly believe that the girl fell into the open drain near the house and was swept away. We had also increased the reward for information about her whereabouts from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh, but till now the police have not received any clue,” Rana added. PTI RPS RPS NSD
