Iran’s embassy in Sierra Leone launched a scathing attack at the United States amid the escalating war between Washington and Tehran, posting an animated video showing the Strait of Hormuz as a game of Minesweeper.
The 35-second video was shared on Thursday with the message, “Habibi (Uncle Sam), come to Iran!” The reference to “Uncle Sam” is a familiar personification of the United States.
The post comes as the Strait of Hormuz has emerged as a major flashpoint in the conflict, with recent US and Iranian military strikes linked to the strategic waterway.
Why Minesweeper?
The video shows a 3D map of the Strait of Hormuz, over which a game of Minesweeper is being played. The imagery appears as tensions rise over the threat of sea mines in one of the world’s key shipping
routes.
The US recently carried out a strike on Iranian rocket launchers located on an island in the strait. Washington said Iran was preparing to use the launchers to fire mines into the waterway.
US forces had finished clearing mines from international shipping routes in the strait just days earlier. Trump had also warned that any ship or boat found laying fresh mines would be destroyed.

Iran Strikes US Targets In Jordan
Iran responded to the US operation by launching ballistic missiles at two American military targets in Jordan.
The strikes caused “heavy damage”, according to the report. Jordan’s military, however, said it intercepted eight missiles.
The exchange followed another US strike on Iranian military positions, with Iran launching retaliatory attacks against US targets in other parts of the region.
Trump Warns Iran Of Bigger Attack
Trump had warned Tehran against retaliating after the US strikes, threatening a much stronger response if Iran launched further attacks.
“If the failed Nation of Iran retaliates for this very justified attack, they will be hit again at a much harder and higher level, but it will not be the biggest attack of them all, that is waiting in the wings and, when it is over, there will be very little left of the Islamic Republic of Iran!” he wrote on social media.
US Says IRGC Facilities Were Targeted
US Central Command said its forces attacked several Iranian military facilities and capabilities.
The targets included IRGC air defence sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites, according to the command.
Iranian state media later claimed that a wedding had been hit in a US strike. Washington rejected the allegation.
Central Command spokesperson Timothy Hawkins said, “We’re aware of the reports, which originated from Iranian state media. The U.S. military never targets civilians, unlike the IRGC.”
US-Iran War Crosses Six Months
The latest escalation comes after the conflict between the US and Iran crossed the six-month mark.
Trump has repeatedly said that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is the central aim of the US campaign. With both sides continuing to exchange strikes across the region, the Strait of Hormuz remains a critical point in the conflict.
