Rajkumar Hirani’s much-anticipated streaming debut, Pritam and Pedro, will feature Mona Singh, Arshad Warsi, among others. Today, at the launch event of the series, Mona spoke about reuniting with Rajkumar Hirani after 3 Idiots and revealed the selfish reason she had for saying yes to the series.
Speaking at the event, she said, “I am so excited. Mera thoda selfish reason tha is series ko haan kehne ka. Woh selfish reason yeh tha ki jab meri shaadi ho rahi thi, tab maine Raju sir ko invite kiya tha aur bola tha ki agar aap town mein hain toh please aana. (I am so excited. I had a slightly selfish reason for saying yes to this series. That reason was that when I was getting married, I invited Raju sir and told him, ‘If you’re in town, please come.’)”
Further continuing, Mona Singh shared, “Toh he said, ‘Yaar Mona, main toh travel kar raha hoon, par tumhari gift due hai aur main tumhe shaadi mein ye dunga.’ Uske baad hum mile nahi. Toh jab is series ke liye call aaya, toh maine socha shayad ab woh gift mujhe mil jaaye. Par show launch ho raha hai aur mujhe ab tak gift nahi mila hai. Vo gift tha vacuum cleaner jo mujhe ab tak nahi mila. (He replied, ‘Mona, I’m travelling, but I still owe you a wedding gift, and I’ll give it to you as a wedding present.’ After that, we never got a chance to meet. So when I got the call for this series, I thought maybe I would finally get that gift. But the show is launching, and I still haven’t received it. That gift was a vacuum cleaner, which I’m still waiting for.)”
Concluding her note, Mona said, “I feel very, very lucky to be a part of Raju sir’s universe again.”
