Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Friday shared an emotional reunion with young people at a centre for blind children in Bengaluru, which he revisited after 16 years.
The Polish Prime Minister visited India for three days, from October 21 to 23. In a post on X, Tusk shared a video from the facility, which he visited along with a Polish delegation.
Recalling the meeting, Tusk said both he and the young women were moved to tears as they remembered the Polish national anthem. The young women welcomed him with a rendition of Poland’s national anthem, Mazurek Dąbrowskiego.

I one, i ja, wszyscy mieliśmy dziś łzy w oczach.

Sharing a video of the reunion on X, the Polish PM said the children, who were young girls when he first visited the centre, had grown up but continued to remember the anthem’s words. He praised them for singing Mazurek Dąbrowskiego, saying they all “had tears” in their eyes during the reunion.
During his visit, Tusk also handed over gift bags to the young women at the centre, adding a personal touch to the reunion.
“16 years ago in Bengaluru, I visited, together with a Polish delegation, a center for blind children run by Franciscan sisters, including sisters from Poland. We didn’t hide our emotion when the children sang the Polish anthem. Today they are already adults, but they still remember the words of Mazurek Dąbrowskiego. Both they and I, we all had tears in our eyes today,” Tusk tweeted, while sharing the video on X.
The centre is run by Franciscan sisters, including nuns from Poland. Tusk’s return after more than a decade and a half brought back memories of his earlier visit, when the children’s performance of the Polish anthem had left a lasting impression on him.
Donald Tusk’s 2nd India Visit As Polish PM
Tusk visited India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was accompanied by Andrzej Domanski, Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, along with a large business delegation.
The visit marked Tusk’s second trip to India as Poland’s PM, following his earlier visit in 2010. He had also travelled to New Delhi in 2017 to attend the India-EU Summit in his capacity as President of the European Council.
During his visit, Tusk travelled to Bengaluru, where he held meetings with business stakeholders from sectors including information technology and space. India-Poland Business Forums were also organised in New Delhi on October 22 and in Bengaluru on October 23.
The visit aimed to strengthen the India-Poland Strategic Partnership and expand cooperation across several areas, including trade and investment, defence, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
