What Is VD Satheesan's Net Worth? New Kerala CM Owns Assets Worth Over Rs 6 Crore

Kerala New CM: After days of speculation and suspense, the Congress on Thursday announced senior leader VD Satheesan as the new Chief Minister of Kerala.

Even as sections within the Congress high command were believed to be leaning towards KC Venugopal, Satheesan emerged as the face many party workers, allies and voters associate with the Congress-led UDF’s massive comeback in Kerala.

The grand old party, in a press conference on Wednesday, announced Satheesan as the upcoming Chief Minister.

VD Satheesan’s Net Worth

In his election affidavit ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls, Satheesan declared a net worth of over Rs 6 crore, including movable and immovable properties.

As per his affidavit, Satheesan and his wife, Lakshmipriya, together own movable and immovable assets valued

at around Rs 6.69 crore.

Satheesan declared movable assets worth Rs 53.82 lakh, while his wife’s movable assets are valued at Rs 68.45 lakh. The couple’s assets include cash, bank deposits, gold and shares.

The Congress leader reported having Rs 64,000 in cash, along with bank shares worth Rs 25,000 and 35 grams of gold. His wife owns 1,128 grams of gold, according to the affidavit.

Satheesan’s immovable assets, including land and residential property, are valued at Rs 2.42 crore. These include inherited and self-purchased properties in Paravoor and Nettoor. His wife has inherited land worth around Rs 1.85 crore.

The affidavit also stated that the family owns a car worth Rs 9.61 lakh in the name of their daughter.

On the liabilities side, Satheesan declared loans and liabilities of around Rs 24 lakh, including housing and vehicle loans. His wife has liabilities amounting to Rs 17.45 lakh.

Kerala Assembly Polls

The Congress-led UDF bagged a commanding 102 out of 140 Assembly seats, marking a historic comeback after a decade. The Left Democratic Front, on the other hand, secured just 35 seats.

The UDF rose to power in Kerala, ending a decade-old rule of the LDF. However, the spotlight shifted sharply to the question of announcing the Chief Minister as supporters of the senior leaders intensified their push for the top post.
