A chaotic scene unfolded at a major US airport on New Year’s Eve after a passenger was caught on camera threatening female airline employees during a heated confrontation that quickly went viral on social media. The incident took place at a Southwest Airlines counter at Kansas City International Airport. Videos circulating online showed the man shouting at airline staff, using abusive language and making repeated threats of physical violence as shocked passengers looked on.
In the footage, the passenger is seen leaning across the counter and placing his hand on a computer screen used by a staff member. The woman asked him to step back, warning that she will call the police if he continued. This appeared to further enrage the man, who can be heard
shouting and threatening to hit the employees.
As the situation escalated, other airline staff moved in to shield their colleague, while several passengers intervened to prevent the confrontation from turning violent. Witnesses said travellers urged the man to calm down as tensions spread through the terminal area.
Airport officials later said the incident occurred during a security investigation that briefly disrupted operations at the airport. Police and federal agents were called in and travellers were evacuated from parts of the terminal as a precaution.
In an update later, authorities said the airport had resumed normal operations after determining that there was no credible security threat. According to social media posts by the person who shared the video, the man was later arrested.
