Many people visit temples to pray for success in their personal and professional lives. In Bengaluru, one temple has become especially popular among IT professionals, with many believing that offering prayers there could help them land better jobs or earn promotions.
The growing attention has also started a debate online. While some people are happy to see more devotees visiting the temple, others feel that social media has changed the peaceful atmosphere the temple was once known for.
Temple Draws Growing Number Of Tech Workers
The Prasanna Ganapathi Temple in Koramangala has recently become popular on social media as ‘Techie Ganesha.’ Many tech professionals now visit the temple hoping for career growth, better job opportunities, or promotions.
The discussion picked up after a Bengaluru resident shared an Instagram reel expressing disappointment over the temple’s new image. According to the user, the temple had been a quiet place of worship for local residents for many years.
The person said social media had turned the temple into a crowded destination, making it difficult for regular visitors to enjoy the calm environment they had always known. The user also questioned how the temple came to be known as ‘Techie Ganesha,’ pointing out that it existed long before Bengaluru became India’s technology hub.

The reel sparked a discussion in the comments section, with people expressing different opinions about the temple’s growing popularity.
A user wrote, “Seriously we are visiting this temple since our children hood for more than 20+ year.. Some people simply hyping and and making reels.”
Another commented, “Whatever it may be but this is good to see Hindus coming to temple.”
A different person said, “If people are believing, let them believe. “Belief is only GOD” The entire Bangalore is crowded. You don’t like this crowd…. What about the crowd near Empire hotel and Forum Mall? if people don’t want crowd, then people should leave Bangalore.”
Another user shared, “Yes True, I spent 27 years in Koramangala and travelled daily in front of this temple and got married in front of this temple chowtry. Only localite ppl know the truth.”
A comment compared it with another well-known temple, saying, “Same in Hyderabad, its chilkur balaji also known as visa Balaji.”
Another person wrote, “People will do anything to satisfy their greed. They are visiting that temple only because they heard that praying there gets you a job. You can find only few people who truly have the essence of devotion. DEVOTION HAS BECOME A DEAL.”
