Weather conditions are expected to change across several parts of India on September 14. While many states are likely to receive rain, some areas may also witness thunderstorms and lightning. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and parts of north India are likely to remain under the influence of active weather systems.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab on September 14 and 15. Parts of south India may also experience strong winds, with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph and gusts reaching up to 60 kmph.
The change in weather is linked to several active weather systems. The monsoon trough is currently lying south of its normal position. A low-pressure area over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining
north Vidarbha is also moving west-northwestwards. An upper-air cyclonic circulation is present over south Konkan and the adjoining Arabian Sea, while a western disturbance is also active.
Delhi-NCR Weather
Delhi and nearby areas are likely to witness cloudy skies and rain on September 14. The IMD has issued a heavy-rain warning for Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh.
Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad may also receive rain. While some areas could see heavy showers, others may get lighter spells. Rain may provide some relief from humidity, but waterlogging and traffic disruptions could cause problems for commuters.
Uttar Pradesh Weather
Several parts of Uttar Pradesh may receive rain and thunderstorms on September 14. Western and central parts of the state are likely to see the impact of the weather systems affecting north India.
Cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Mathura, Prayagraj and Varanasi may experience cloudy skies and rain. However, rainfall intensity is likely to vary across different areas.
Bihar Weather
Rain is likely to continue across several parts of Bihar on September 14. Weather activity may increase from September 15, when some areas could also receive heavy rainfall.
Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Purnia and Katihar may experience changing weather conditions.
Thunderstorms are also possible in some areas. Farmers and people working outdoors should take precautions during thunderstorms and lightning.
Jharkhand Weather
Rain is expected to continue in Jharkhand, with several parts of the state likely to remain cloudy on September 14.
Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Khunti, Jamshedpur, Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih, Gumla and Palamu may receive rain. Thunder and lightning are also possible in some areas.
Continuous rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, although the intensity of rain is not expected to be the same across the state.
West Bengal Weather
West Bengal is also likely to remain under the influence of active weather on September 14. North Bengal and areas around Sikkim may receive more widespread rainfall.
Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Kalimpong and Siliguri may remain cloudy and receive showers. Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, West Midnapore and Bankura may also experience rain.
Rajasthan Weather
Rain is likely to continue in Rajasthan, particularly across the eastern parts of the state. The IMD has forecast heavy rain at isolated places in east Rajasthan on September 14 and 15.
Jaipur, Dausa, Bharatpur, Alwar, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar may receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
Parts of western Rajasthan may also see cloudy conditions, although rainfall is not expected to be uniform across the region.
Madhya Pradesh Weather
Madhya Pradesh is likely to experience active weather on September 14. The low-pressure area over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining north Vidarbha is expected to move west-northwestwards.
Western parts of the state may receive widespread rain along with thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall possible at isolated places.
Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Dhar, Jhabua, Dewas, Khargone, Khandwa, Harda and Narmadapuram may experience rain. Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Sagar and Damoh could also see cloudy skies and showers.
Punjab And Haryana Weather
Punjab and Haryana may receive heavy rain on September 14 and 15. The IMD has issued a heavy-rain warning for both states.
Gurugram, Faridabad, Rohtak, Hisar, Panipat, Karnal, Sonipat and Ambala may receive rain, while Chandigarh is also likely to remain cloudy.
In Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Firozpur, Sangrur and Hoshiarpur may also experience showers.
Thunderstorms and lightning are possible, making caution necessary for people working outdoors. Continued rainfall could also affect road traffic in some areas.
Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh Weather
Rain is likely to continue in Uttarakhand, with several districts remaining under the influence of changing weather. Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar may receive rain.
The IMD has forecast thunderstorms and lightning in Uttarakhand on September 14. Rain in hilly areas could increase the risk of landslides and road blockages.
Himachal Pradesh may also receive rain in areas including Kinnaur, Mandi, Chamba, Una, Hamirpur, Solan, Bilaspur and Kangra. Sudden changes in weather could create difficulties, particularly in hilly areas.
Jammu And Kashmir Weather
Weather conditions may become active in Jammu and Kashmir on September 14, with thunderstorms and lightning possible. More widespread rain is expected between September 15 and 17.
Jammu, Anantnag, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Reasi, Ganderbal, Udhampur, Ramban, Shopian and Bandipora may experience cloudy skies and rain.
Ladakh and nearby areas could also receive rain and thunderstorms between September 15 and 17.
Northeast India Weather
Rain is likely to continue across the northeastern states on September 14. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya may receive widespread rainfall, while some areas could experience heavy showers
Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Lakhimpur and Silchar may receive rain. Shillong, Cherrapunji and Tura in Meghalaya may also remain cloudy.
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to receive rain, with continued showers potentially leading to waterlogging and landslides in some areas.
South India Weather
Several parts of south India may also experience rain and strong winds on September 14.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may see thunderstorms accompanied by winds of 40 to 50 kmph. Gusts could reach up to 60 kmph. Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tirunelveli may receive rain.
Tamil Nadu could also witness heavy rainfall in the coming days, while Kerala is likely to receive heavy showers between September 14 and 16.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may also experience rain from September 14. Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Nellore, Hyderabad, Warangal and Karimnagar may see cloudy skies and showers.
Strong surface winds are also likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along the Gujarat and north Maharashtra coasts.
