Karwa Chauth is one of India’s most significant festivals, where married women observe a nirjala vrat (no food or water) from sunrise to moonrise for the health, happiness, and longevity of their husbands.
Traditionally observed by women, some husbands also participate to express their love. This year, a heartwarming moment went viral online, showing a husband not only observing the fast for his wife but also performing a simple, touching gesture that delighted viewers.
A beautician was at a client’s home, helping her get ready for Karwa Chauth. Once her services were done and she was packing up to leave, her husband came to pick her up, despite having an injury on his hand.
Husband’s Thoughtful Gesture
The client who recorded the video begins by saying, “Aaj Karwa Chauth hai and maine inhe Yes Madam se bulaya hai ghar par tyar hone ke liye (It’s Karwa Chauth today, and I called her from Yes Madam to get ready at home).”
She then points the camera at the doorstep, saying, “Ye inke husband hai. Hath mein lagi hui hai, but inko fir bhi pick karne aaye hai (This is her husband. He has an injury on his hand but he still came to pick her up).”
Despite having an injured hand, the husband came to be with his wife after her work ended. When offered water or a drink, the beautician revealed that he was also observing the Karwa Chauth fast.
“Aapka fast hai? Aree waah, kamaal kar diya (You are fasting too? Wow, that’s amazing),” she exclaimed.
