Manchester United take on promoted Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday in a game that could define head coach Ruben Amorim’s future at the fabled Mancunian club as the club goes through a period of turmoil standing 14th in the table with just 7 points to their name in six outings.
Amorim has come under fire due to his side’s underperformance despite splashing huge sums of money on incoming transfers in the transfer window.

“Nobody here is naive. We understand we need results to continue the project,” Amorim said ahead of the game against Sunderland.
“We will reach a point that is impossible for
everyone because this is a very big club with a lot of sponsors, with two owners, Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. So the balance is really hard,” he said reflecting on the complex structure in place at the once-esteemed club.
“It’s a dream to be here and I want to continue. I want to fight for this,” the 40-year-old said.

Amorim’s system has come under immense scrutiny since his arrival, but the Portuguese boss has remained steadfast on not altering his style of play.
“My players believe you guys when you say the problem of our team is the system. I get crazy about that,” he said.
“I don’t want to change your mind but my players, I guarantee you, they are listening to you, and they are putting that inside because we are not winning games,” Amorim added.
