A LinkedIn post highlighting the challenges of leadership and work-life balance is going viral, sparking widespread discussion online. The post candidly describes how a fast-growing startup environment
can turn even well-meaning leaders into the kind of bosses they never intended to be.
The author, Krittika Marwaha, founder of Gurgaon-based Little Odd Marketers, shared that this realization came after receiving a thoughtful message from one of her employees.
The Story Behind Krittika Marwaha’s Viral Post
The post, which she later deleted, detailed an incident where an employee refused a 9 pm work call due to household chores, including preparing dinner and helping her son with his exams, alongside issues with poor internet connection.
This message initially upset Marwaha but led her to a realisation about the importance of understanding the struggles of her employees’ lives.
What Did She Write?
After reading her employee’s message, Marwaha realized she had been so absorbed in her company’s work that she had lost sight of real-life struggles. She recognized that she had become a boss who overlooked the challenges her employees face daily like managing rent, school fees, network issues, and the relentless hustle of everyday life.
Who Did She Blame For This?
Marwaha blamed tight work deadlines, noting that the rush for results often prioritizes speed over sensitivity, adding pressure on employees. She acknowledged that while it was her choice to devote herself fully to building the company, it is her responsibility to support employees who dedicate their time and effort to making those dreams a reality.
Praise Pours In On LinkedIn
Krittika Marwaha’s post has garnered praise from many professionals, who commended her for recognising the need to support her team.
One user commented, “I wish more founders and leaders understood their responsibility like you and genuinely supported their teams.” Nakul Saini added, “Your post is honest and thoughtful. In the rush to achieve our vision, we often overlook the immense responsibility our teams carry. Your words remind us that leadership is not just about results, but also about respecting the hard work of those who make it possible.”
