Dharashiv MP Omraje Nimbalkar on Friday said he would decide whether to leave Shiv Sena (UBT) after speaking to people in his constituency. His statement came after a Mumbai sessions court acquitted all the accused in the murder case of his father, Pawanraje Nimbalkar.
Omraje said he does not feel like continuing in politics after failing to get justice for his father even after 20 years.
“I feel like leaving politics. I entered politics only to get justice for my father. Even after 20 years, I could not get justice. What is the point of staying in politics?” he was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
He said he has lost interest in politics and feels frustrated and helpless. He added that he would meet people from his constituency on Sunday
and then take a final decision on his political future.
Omraje denied reports that he was upset with Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. He said Uddhav Thackeray had always supported him.
“I have nothing against Uddhavji. He has always helped me. I am not angry with him,” he said.
Asked whether Uddhav Thackeray had called him after the verdict, Omraje said he had not received a call from him, but some Sena leaders had contacted him.
He also denied reports that he had criticised Uddhav Thackeray or Aaditya Thackeray.
“False news is being spread. I have never criticised Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya. I have never done that and never will,” he said.
Pawanraje Nimbalkar, a Congress leader from Dharashiv, and his driver Samad Kazi were shot dead in Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai on June 3, 2006. Former Maharashtra minister Padamsinh Patil and eight others were arrested in the case. A Mumbai sessions court recently acquitted all the accused.
After the verdict, he wrote on X, “20 years and 13 days of struggle, waiting for justice. My father, Pawarraje Nimbalkar Saheb, and his driver Samad Kazi were brutally murdered about 20 years ago. Even today, both our families are still waiting for justice to be served. Today, we hold the hope that the goddess of justice will deliver justice, and a verdict will be passed against those who stained the bond of blood.”
“This case is a struggle against the arrogant political power and the intoxication of money that treats people like slaves, disregards the value of their lives, and betrays the ties of blood..!,” he added.

Meanwhile, speculation about Omraje joining the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde grew after he skipped the party’s parliamentary meeting in Delhi earlier this week. His possible exit has angered some Sena (UBT) workers in Dharashiv, who plan to protest outside his residence after his return from Mumbai.
Senior Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare said the party hopes Omraje will stay. MP Sanjay Raut alleged that Omraje may have been promised a favourable verdict in his father’s murder case and had therefore decided to leave the party.
Omraje started his political career with the Shiv Sena and became an MLA from Osmanabad in 2009. He later won the Dharashiv Lok Sabha seat in 2019 and again in 2024, becoming one of the party’s important leaders in the Marathwada region.
