Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 12 (PTI) A woman and her lover have been arrested for allegedly killing her husband by giving him an overdose of sleeping pills after he opposed their relationship, police said on Saturday.
The accused were identified as Tabassum, wife of Ragib, and Shahrukh, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Mahadik Akchey Sanjay said.
Ragib’s body was found in a forested area in Husainabad village under Ratanpuri police station limits on September 8, the officer said.
During the investigation, police found that Tabassum and Shahrukh were allegedly involved in the killing and had given Ragib an overdose of sleeping pills, he said.
According to police, Tabassum confessed to the crime during interrogation.
The officer said Tabassum had allegedly
been in a relationship with Shahrukh for about a year and Ragib had opposed their relationship.
A case was registered against the duo and both have been arrested, police said.
