Chennai Super Kings chased down the target of 204 runs in 19.2 overs on Sunday (May 10) to secure a win by 5 wickets over Lucknow Super Giants in their 11th match of the IPL 2026. Urvil Patel scored a half-century in just 13 balls for the Chennai-based franchise to equal the record of fastest 50 in IPL history before Shivam Dube slammed back-to-back sixes in the first two balls of the 20th over to seal the deal for Men in Yellow. The win over LSG on Sunday in front of home fans helped CSK extend their tally of points to 12 in IPL 2026, and they are now 5th in the points table.

The win over LSG has boosted CSK’s chances of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the IPL 2026 playoffs. CSK will definitely play in the playoffs if they manage to win all of their remaining three league matches.
If CSK win at least two of the remaining three fixtures, then also they will have very high chances of qualifying for the playoffs with 16 points.
But if CSK manage to win only one of their remaining three matches, then they will have to remain dependent on the result of other teams, a scenario which they would like to avoid.
CSK’s upcoming matches
Chennai Super Kings will face Lucknow Super Giants once again in their 12th match of IPL 2026. The reverse fixture is scheduled to take place at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday (May 15). In their 13th league match CSK will face Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday (May 18), and their last league match of IPL 2026 is against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday (May 21).

Can LSG qualify for playoffs?
On the other hand, after losing their 8th match of the ongoing season on Sunday, Lucknow Super Giants are out of the IPL 2026 playoffs race. Rishabh Pant’s men can’t finish in the top four now even if they win all of their remaining three league matches by big margins. They are 10th in the points table with only 6 points from 11 matches played so far, and their net run rate is -0.907.
