Delhi’s pollution has worsened sharply in recent years, with rising smog and deteriorating air quality posing serious health risks to millions, making sustained government action crucial to improving the city’s environment.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi on Monday woke up to hazy skies, with overall air quality in the ‘very poor’ category with a reading of 366. Seven areas of the city recorded severe AQI levels.
Narela recorded an AQI of 418, followed by Bawana (408), Wazirpur (403) and Anand Vihar (402) at 7.20 am.
Delhi’s air quality is likely to remain ‘very poor’ for the next three days. It is expected to oscillate between ‘very poor’ and ‘severe’ categories during the subsequent six days, according to the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS).
