Mumbai Indians bounced back in typical champions’ fashion on Saturday as Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur struck unbeaten half-centuries to power them to 195 for 4 before their bowlers sealed a 50-run
win over Delhi Capitals in the WPL.
After an early wobble that included Amelia Kerr’s first-ball duck, Sciver-Brunt (70 off 46) anchored the innings with fluent strokeplay and key partnerships before Harmanpreet (74* off 42) took charge at the finish. In reply, Delhi’s chase unravelled early when Nicola Carey removed Shafali Verma and Laura Wolvaardt in the fifth over to leave them 33 for 3, a collapse that worsened to 46 for 5.
Chinelle Henry’s fighting 56 delayed the end, but Carey (3/37), Kerr (3/24) and Sciver-Brunt (2/29) ensured DC were bowled out for 145.
In the afternoon match of Super Saturday, Gujarat Giants edged UP Warriorz by 10 runs in a high-scoring clash.
They posted 207 for 4, led by captain Ashleigh Gardner’s fluent 65 and a late 27 not out off 10 balls from Georgia Wareham. In reply, Warriorz lost opener Kiran Navgire early but Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning added 70 for the second wicket before a sudden collapse left them 74 for 4.
Litchfield counter-attacked superbly with 78 off 40 balls and later shared a 69-run stand with Shweta Sehrawat to keep the chase alive, but her dismissal in the 16th over swung the game decisively. Despite a late flourish from Asha Sobhana, Warriorz finished on 197 for 8, with Wareham’s all-round effort and support from Renuka Singh and Sophie Devine proving decisive.
WPL 2026 – Points Table
MI’s win allowed them to jump over the Giants and RCB to the pinnacle. A small loss to RCB and a big win over DC means their NRR is also the healthiest at +1.175.
RCB are only behind GG on NRR. UP Warriorz drawing the game close against GG meant they finished the day ahead of DC, whose NRR is worrysome at -2.5, although these are still very early days.

Harmanpreet, Litchfield, Sciver-Brunt and Gardner all scored stellar fifties on the day to find a place in the Orange Cap table. The MI skipper had the best outing, allowing her to wear the cap with 94 runs in two matches, closely followed by Litchfield with 78 runs after one match.
WPL 2026 – Purple Cap
MI players dominated the purple cap list, mostly because they are the only team to play two matches. Kerr and Nicola Carey took two wickets each in the first game and did one better in the second.
They are joint-top with five wickets, but Kerr’s better average gives her the cap for the day.
