A passenger, allegedly in an inebriated state, had to be physically restrained by crew members on an Akasa Air flight from Bengaluru to Delhi after reportedly displaying unruly behaviour mid-air.
The incident
took place on flight QP 1599 on the evening of October 20, during Diwali.
According to airline officials, the passenger began causing a disturbance during the flight, prompting the crew to intervene. The situation escalated to the point where physical restraint was deemed necessary to ensure the safety of everyone on board.
In a statement, an Akasa Air spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying, “An incident of unruly behaviour involving a passenger took place on Akasa Air flight QP 1599 operating from Bengaluru to Delhi on October 20th, 2025. Our crew followed the required safety protocols in line with our policies to ensure the safety and comfort of our passengers. We stand firm on our zero-tolerance policies against unruly passenger behaviour.”
The airline also stated that the crew acted strictly in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs), which are designed to manage such situations effectively and minimise risk.
This is the second such incident reported onboard a domestic flight within a week. On 17 October, a man in his mid-40s was arrested for allegedly touching a 38-year-old woman IT professional inappropriately during a flight from Chennai to Hyderabad.
According to police, the man, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was seated next to the woman and her husband. The couple had fallen asleep during the journey, and as the flight was preparing to land, the woman reportedly felt someone touch her inappropriately. On noticing the man’s hand, she raised an alarm.
A complaint was later lodged with the RGIA police, and a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused, who claimed it was accidental, was arrested. Police said an investigation is underway. The name of the airline involved in this incident was not disclosed.
