In 2025, The Hollywood Reporter India reported that Amazon Prime Video has greenlit the second season of Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s crime thriller, work on which is already underway. A source informed the media outlet, “Dahaad 2 is on, and the team is working on the script. Prime Video is aiming to mount the show on a big scale, as the first season did extremely well, garnering immense praise. The work is underway, and the team will figure out a shooting timeline soon.” While the report did not state whether the original cast will return or not, Sonakshi Sinha and Gulshan Devaiah’s Instagram stories have led us to believe that they might reprise their roles in Dahaad Season 2.
Sonakshi Sinha, who played SI Anjali Bhaati in Dahaad, shared The Hollywood Reporter India’s Instagram post, confirming season 2 of the series. Expressing her excitement, she wrote, “Finally!!! Cant wait to get back in that uniform!!! @reemakagti1 @zoieakhtar @primevideoin.” Meanwhile, Gulshan Devaiah, who played Inspector Devi Lal Singh, wrote, “Now…Where did I keep that uniform.”
Directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, the 2023 show Dahaad stars Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiah, Vijay Varma and Sohum Shah. It is inspired by a real-life serial killer named Mohan Kumar, who was also known as Cyanide Mohan. Dahaad became the first-ever Indian web show to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival. It received positive reviews from both audiences and critics alike.
