Amitabh Bachchan has seemingly reflected on the importance of acknowledging mistakes after facing backlash over a recent tweet about the France national football team during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The controversy began after France advanced in the tournament by defeating Paraguay. Following the match, Amitabh posted on X, “T 5794 -अब कहे देते हैं : the French WC 2026 football team .. the FRENCH !! 11 players in team .. 10 Black .. !! 1 white !!? the POWER of BLACK.”
T 5794 -अब कहे देते हैं :
the French WC 2026 football team .. the FRENCH !!
11 players in team ..
10 Black .. !!
1 white !!?
the POWER of BLACK 💪 💪— Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) July 6, 2026
The tweet did not go down well with several users, who criticised the veteran actor for
commenting on the racial composition of the French team. Many argued that the footballers should be identified and celebrated as French players rather than being reduced to the colour of their skin. Others called the remark unnecessary and insensitive, especially in the middle of a global sporting event where conversations around identity, nationality and representation are often closely watched.
While Amitabh has not directly named the controversy in his latest blog post, the actor appeared to address the larger idea of learning, reflection and owning up to one’s errors.
Writing on Tumblr, he shared, “Every day is an education .. every day is a fresh and new learning .. every day is cherished for the opportunities it gives to be able to comply with the change and the new. Learning is divine .. what was unknown and left to specialists, is good, one must have the ability to pick up whatever the ones that have the knowledge and experience, convey.. nothing like understanding the self and the meaning of it, it shall ever reflect upon your .. YOUR understanding and reading and your own reckoning.”
He further wrote about the value of admitting when one may have gone wrong. “Specialists can make a mistake , find excuses for it and carry on in a repair mode .. but doing it on your own reasoning and personal inputs gives you the hold on what we move on with or at least know that the mistake was ours … admitting a mistake is not wrong .. it shows character,” he wrote.
The actor added that accepting a mistake can end unnecessary debate and free one from prolonging arguments. He also wrote that sometimes the best way to end a disagreement is to tell the other person, “You know ! you may be right.”
On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan is expected to return in the sequel to Nag Ashwin’s mythological sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD. The upcoming film also stars Prabhas and Kamal Haasan in key roles. Deepika Padukone, who appeared in the first part, will reportedly not return for the sequel.
