New Delhi, Aug 10 (PTI) Two SUVs bearing the same registration number have been recovered in west Delhi, and both vehicles were found to be stolen, a police official said on Monday.
The recovery was made during a special checking drive ahead of Independence Day to verify suspicious and stolen vehicles and second-hand car dealers, he said.
Acting on specific information that two SUVs (Fortuners) carrying the same registration number were being used at different locations in the Delhi-NCR, a team examined CCTV footage, verified ownership details and conducted field checks.
“The two SUVs were subsequently traced from separate locations and brought to the concerned office for verification,” a senior police officer said.
During physical inspection, both
vehicles were found displaying the same registration and chassis numbers. They were taken to an authorised service centre, where technical examination confirmed that both were stolen vehicles, police said.
One of the recovered SUVs was also found to be involved in a cheating case registered at Gandhi Nagar police station. Police identified the accused as Aryan Mavi, 23, a resident of Vivek Vihar.
The recovered vehicles are linked to cases registered at Gandhi Nagar and Preet Vihar police stations. Further investigation is underway, police said. PTI BM SHS
